Virtualisation & Proxmox

Instead of running a separate physical server for every task, several servers run as virtual machines on shared hardware. This saves space and power, simplifies backups and makes replacing hardware much easier. We mainly use Proxmox VE for this.

Typical situations

When this is worth it for you.

Sound familiar? Then get in touch. We look at your situation and make a concrete proposal.

  • Several older servers are to be consolidated on new hardware.
  • You want to be able to back up a server without collecting files individually.
  • You want to review licence costs for virtualisation software.

Our approach

What we actually do for you.

Planning

We define which services run as virtual machines or containers and how much performance and storage they need.

Setting up Proxmox VE

Installation, storage, networking and user management of the virtualisation environment.

Migration of existing servers

Existing physical or virtual servers are transferred to the new environment.

Backup of virtual machines

Complete backup of entire systems, for example with Proxmox Backup Server, and fast restores.

Multiple hosts

Where needed, a setup with several servers so that virtual machines can move to another host during maintenance or outages.

Your benefits

Advantages for your business.

  • Less hardware

Several servers share one machine, saving space, power and maintenance.

  • Fast recovery

Entire systems can be restored from backup or protected with a snapshot before changes.

  • Flexible expansion

Performance and storage can be adjusted without reinstalling a server.

  • Open solution

Proxmox VE is open source; support subscriptions from the vendor are optional.

Approach

How we work.

  1. 01

    Analysis

Which servers and services exist, how are they used and backed up?

  2. 02

    Concept

Hardware, storage, networking and backup of the new environment.

  3. 03

    Setup and migration

Setting up and migrating the systems in agreed time windows.

  4. 04

    Operation

Updates, monitoring and regular restore tests.

FAQ

Good to know.

What is Proxmox VE?

Proxmox Virtual Environment is an open-source platform for running and managing virtual machines and containers on one or more servers.

Can Windows servers run on Proxmox?

Yes. Windows and Linux servers can both run as virtual machines. The appropriate Windows licences must be in place.

How is a virtualised environment backed up?

Entire virtual machines are backed up regularly, ideally to a separate system. In an emergency, a complete server can then be restored.
